The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Jail (JCSO) opened in 1981 and has been in continuous use for more than 45 years.
Multiple assessments have confirmed the building to be in very poor condition and at the end of its useful or serviceable life. The aging facility creates safety risks for staff, inmates and the public, and is increasingly expensive to maintain.

The Need
Independent assessments and state jail inspections have determined that the Sheriff’s Office and Jail facility poses a risk to the safety and well-being of the hundreds of staff, inmates, and members of the public occupying the jail every day.
The Proposal
